With Orléans, dlp games presents its most complex and comprehensive work to date. The aim of the game is to gain supremacy in medieval France through trade, building and science. The focus is on the city of Orléans and the Loire region, where you can undertake trading trips to other cities in order to obtain coveted goods and build trading posts.
The speciality of the game is the way in which actions are triggered. You need different people such as farmers, craftsmen, knights or monks. Each player assembles their own followers during the course of the game. Each profession is associated with certain advantages. Knights, for example, increase your own radius of action and are also needed to accompany trade journeys. Craftsmen can be hired in the village to help build offices and make tools. Scholars are important for driving progress. And last but not least, it is worth becoming active in the monastery, because with the help of the monks you are less at the mercy of fate.
You always want to carry out more actions than you can, and there are many ways to reach your goal. The game offers plenty of opportunities: You can acquire additional actions, get involved in one area or another. Depending on your strategy, you should consciously choose and coordinate your followers and all other game elements.
Since the 8th edition (2023), additional material for the 5th player has been included in the base game.
